Dear Santa

I have been sort of OK at times this year so I am putting together a list of totally unattainable items that would make for the most wonderful and outstanding Christmas that a 35 year old man-child could ever want.

First as you know I really love to watch TV. So this would be a nice addition.

If I got a new TV I would have to have TiVo to go with it.

I am also going to need some new DVD's to watch on my new TV.

To help my blogging, I would really like any of the notebooks here.

I like to add pictures on my blog but if I am going to do that I really could use one of these.

And I would like one of these to keep on top of e-mail and my phone contacts.

My golf game can use an update so I am going to need some of these and these and these.

This won't help my game but I can use one.

I would love to see this hanging on a wall in my house.

For my Browns games I can always use some new gear. One of these and these, please.

To support my favorite college team, I should get one of these.

It's not Ohio State but I like this jersey.

I need some shoes to hoop in. And some running shoes too.

I can use some more electronics in my life (Lifetime subscription included please).

I have found some of my inner Jedi. These should cure that fix:

I think I need to take a trip next year. But do I go here or here?

And to top it all off, I can use a new ride. This one should do me just fine.

Thanks,

ps: I am aware that I just made a shopping list that is in the neighborhood of $40,000. But a guy can dream, can't he?

Random Thoughts...

A few tidbits that came to mind…

Another Thursday night game that I can’t watch. But then again maybe I am lucky because I don’t have to listen to Bryant Gumbel butcher another game. The worst part about it for the NFL Networks is that the games have been so shitty that I don’t think anybody is really complaining. As long as other cities are doing the same as Cleveland did last week and broadcast the game on local television.

My pick tonight is Seattle -10

I am ready for the National Championship game. And it is still almost a month away. But I have started reading some smack talk on a few websites and want to watch that game. 55 days is a long time for the Buckeyes to have to wait to play. But I have faith in Tressel to have his troops ready to go.

Not all OSU fans are geniuses.

Couple more videos to share with you that I found while messing around on You Tube:

Go Bucks!

Seinfeld Lost Episode

Whose Line is it Anyway is one of my favorite shows.
This may one of the funniest clips ever.

Last weekend I watched Rocky 2 and 3 back to back. I forgot how funny the running on the beach scene really is. Luckily I can now re-live that scene over and over.

Since I don't have a date for New Year's yet I may have to give Jenn Sterger a call.

We'll talk more later!

Troy Smith, Thee Heisman Trophy Winner 2006

I was very happy to see Troy Smith win the Heisman Trophy tonight.. It was great to hear his back story and see what kind hardship he has overcome to get where he is today. It didn’t stop him from trying to get that extra cash a couple of years ago, but we won’t bring that up too much. Anyway I loved that I just watched SportsCenter where they talked to Kirk Herbstreit. The first words out of his mouth were “if you are the Cleveland Browns, learn from the mistake that the Texans made last year and draft Troy Smith.”
I like to think that I am a realistic fan. He’s a very good college quarterback but I don’t think that Troy is going to be a very good in the NFL. I don’t think he has the size. Maybe I don’t know what I am talking about and he will prove me wrong. He does win football games though. Maybe if they beat Florida somebody will pick him before the Browns are on the clock. Because we all know that the Browns will probably win one more game and be stuck in about the same place as they picked last year. In any case, I don’t see Troy Smith as the answer in Cleveland.
I'm not convinced that Charlie or Derek are either but that is for another day.

On to the slate of NFL games:

Ravens @ Chiefs -2 ½
I am torn with this game. The Chiefs are coming off that heartbreaking loss to the lowly Browns last week. But I'm not sure that I trust the Ravens. An Arrowhead is always a tough place to get a win. I am going to take the points.

Falcons @ Buccaneers +3 ½
Time for Ron Mexico to fly! Falcons should be able to run all over the field against the porous Tampa defense. Like that vocabulary word?

Vikings @ Lions -1 ½
This is just a bad football game. With a combined record of 7-17, I think I will take the Vikings of Minnesota to squeak this one out.

Titans @ Texans -1
Vince Young fans get on board. It’s time to ride that train a little bit more. How much fun is it going to be to see the Houston fans get a taste of what they could have had for their quarterback of the future?

Giants @ Panther PK
With Jake on the shelf I think that I will have to go against Chris Weinke (Heisman Trophy winner) and his career record of 1-16 as a starter. Although Eli has been about as reliable as (insert clever reliablility joke here).

Saints @ Cowboys -7
It’s the Game of the Week in my eyes. I like what Tuna has going on in Big D with Romo and TO. But you really have to hand it to the Saints this year. Drew Brees was a free agent QB, and now he’s on the verge of a record breaking season. I have a feeling that this game will be very, very close. I am taking the extra TD and the Nawlins Saints

Bills @ Jets -4
How about the job that Mangini is doing in the big apple? Luckily for him the Giants are sucking all of the headlines and he can go somewhat unnoticed. Did you realize that the Jets were 7-5? They are almost legit playoff contenders. Let’s not get crazy just yet.

Colts @ Jaguars +1
This has a lot of potential to be an upset. The Colts rushing defense has been horrific lately. And the Jags are 5-1 at home this year (they lost to Houston!). I am calling for the upset here. Jags win!

Eagles @ Redskins +1
Can you believe that Jeff Garcia has 6 TD’s and Zero INT’s? Why can’t the Browns get a guy like that? Oh wait…

Raiders @ Bengals -10 ½
Who Dey? Who Dey? Who Dey gonna arrest them Bengals? It may not be enough to help the Raiders though. If only it was Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson getting pulled over with some hookers and a few pounds of weed. Now that would be fun!

Patriots @ Dolphins +3 ½
I was watching “Inside the NFL” in my hotel room this week and saw a special about Bill Belicheck and his kids on the sidelines during the games. His youngest son was charting plays and he kept asking Matt Cassel what all the plays were. And of course Cassel has to act like he wants to help since it’s the coaches’ kid and everything. It’s good to be backing up Tom Brady.

Packers @ 49ers –4 ½
If this was in Lambeau I think I would take Bret Favre instead I am taking the Niners at home.

Seahawks @ Cardinals +3
Seahawks are getting on a roll now and I don’t think there is anything that AZ can do to stop them. Good news for the Cards is that the forecast is for 80 and sunny.

Broncos @ Chargers -7 ½
This should have been a good game. But with all of the crap that is going on with the Bronco QB’s, I think the Chargers keep it going. Personally, I think it was a dumb move by Shanny to make the switch when he did, but nobody asked me.

Bears @ Rams +6 ½
How long before Griese gets into the game this week? I am going with half way through the second quarter. They are lucky that they play in a crappy division and that they have already clinched a playoff berth.

Last Week 7-9

This Week 0-1
YTD 68-77-3

Catch ya later,
Rick
